Wajib

Over one winter’s day in Nazareth, father Abu and son, Shadi ( real-life father and son actors Mohammed and Saleh Bakri) visit friends and family to deliver invitations for the wedding of Abu’s daughter. Along the way,  they reminisce, bicker and laugh together revealing tensions both political and familial. A richly cinematic sense of place, complex characters and a fine script make this film both thought provoking and entertaining.

“Built foursquare around the charm and skill of co-leads Mohammad and Saleh Bakri, father and son onscreen and off.Hollywood Reporter

“A poignant, bittersweet comedy of estrangement and identity.” The Guardian

“There’s a quiet warmth that runs like a current through Wajib.” NY Times Critics Pick
