Once Upon A Boy

An Israeli family deals with the challenges of cerebral palsy, which affects one of their twin sons.  10 year old Ron is intelligent, charming and full of life, but while he watches his twin brother run and play with their third brother, Ron’s movements are increasingly limited. Their parents Hili and Eran are both devoted to the well-being of their family, but have different coping styles: one more anxious and interventional and the other more optimistic. Family relationships are explored through interviews as well as through intimate, unsentimental observational passages filmed predominantly with a hand held camera and accompanied by a lovely guitar score. With the focus more on the people whose lives it captures, then on the disease that alters their existence,  the film is both emotionally honest and unsentimental.

Film will be followed by a discussion facilitated by the Cromwell Center for Disability Awareness.

The program is made possible by the law office of Joe Bornstein and by the Cromwell Center for Disability Awareness.
