A Crime on the Bayou

In 1966, a 19 year old Black man, Gary Duncan, touched a white man on the arm and was arrested for it. A young Jewish attorney, Richard Sobol, takes his case, which eventually reaches the U.S. Supreme Court. During the long fight against the white supremacist court system in Louisiana and for the rights of all Americans to a fair trial, an unshakeable bond between the two men is formed. Directed by Nancy Buirski, who directed The Loving Story, MJFF 2015. Nancy Buirski joins MJFF for a live conversation on Monday November 8 at 8PM. FREE SCREENING.
