Thanks to everyone who watched The Starfish as part of Holocaust Remembrance and who joined us for the discussion with the director, Tyler Gildin. Our recording with Tyler unfortunately had some technical glitches but we were able to salvage part of it and you can listen here.

Sheila Nesis is a cantor, Jewish educator and singer. She grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina; this past year, she moved to Portland with her family.

At the age of 10, Herb Gildin and his 2 sisters were sent to Sweden to live with a non-Jewish family in order to escape the Nazis. Eventually they reunited with their parents in America and settled in Brooklyn. Sixty years later, Herb and his family make plans to reunite with the Swedish family. The Starfish, directed and produced by New York Emmy Award-winning Producer Tyler Gildin, Herb’s grandson, tells their story.
