When David is forced to attend an autism support group, he wants nothing to do with the other members. That is, until he meets Sarah, who radiates optimism and confidence. The leads in this warm romantic comedy are played by autistic amateur actors, who bring a spontaneity that is both authentic and endearing. Embracing an unrepresented community with great humor and warmth, the film shows rather than tells, that being different doesn’t mean you aren’t like everyone else. Manhattan camerawork and an upbeat score add to the genre in way that is familiar, yet entirely new.
