Weekend Edition FAQs

MJFF WEEKEND EDITION FAQs

The Maine Jewish Film Festival uses the Eventive Platform to present films and associated programs online. This platform gives our audience a way to access the films and allows us to assure distributors that their film rights are protected. Because technology varies from household to household, we strongly recommend checking out these FAQ’s.

Your Account

  • In order to buy tickets and view screenings and live stream discussions, you will need an Eventive Account.  All you need is your name and email address. It’s important to use the same email whenever you visit the MJFF virtual screenings on Eventive. If you’ve forgotten your password, just click on forgot password to reset.
    • You can access films by either buying a pass or individual tickets. These options may vary for the MJFF Weekend Edition series. All tickets are household viewing.
    • Buy individual tickets from the Virtual Catalog, which has film photos and information about programs.
    • When you click into a film from the Virtual Catalog, you’ll be prompted to pre-order your ticket.
    •  If you already have an Eventive account, just log in.
    • If you are buying tickets for the first time with Eventive, you will be prompted to create your account with your email.
    • To buy a pass just click on Buy Pass on the MJFF Welcome Page.
    • To use your pass log in with the email associated with the pass. Then, reserve your ticket by using your pass as payment. No tickets are automatically reserved until you reserve the tickets using your pass.
    • For free events, you will need to reserve a ticket in order to access the film. The process is the same for creating an account and securing a ticket.
    • No credit card info is stored on Eventive. Your credit card info is with the processor, Stripe, and is encrypted. Stripe is fully compliant with PCI standards and funds are directly deposited into MJFF’s account.

Logging In to Your Account

  • When you visit the MJFF site on Eventive, just look in the upper right hand corner. You will either see your initials or ‘Log In.’
    • If you see your initials, you are automatically logged in.
    • If you see Log In, you will need to use your email and the password you created with your account to log in. Remember to always use the email you used to create the account.

Your Tickets/Passes

  •   When you visit the MJFF site, just look in the upper right-hand corner and you’ll see My Passes and My Tickets as well as Film Guide.
  •   A Pass will allow you to pre-order tickets using your Pass instead of a Credit Card. Once you reserve your tickets, you will see them in My Tickets.

Your Screenings

  • When you pre-order your ticket, you will receive a confirmation email with information about your screening. This includes the date and time it will become available to watch and information about any live stream program.
  • You will receive a reminder email when it becomes available to watch. When it becomes available to watch you should ‘unlock’ on the device where you created your account. (Unlocking just means you have the ticket reserved and you will be able to access the streaming). You will not receive a link to view the film – you must log into your account to view a film.
  •  All films for MJFF Weekend Edition will be available for viewing from 9AM on Friday through Midnite on Sunday.
  • Some films will have a ticket limit: this is required by the Film Distributor, who owns the rights to the film.
  •  Once you have started to watch the film, you will have 36 hours to complete viewing– you can stop and go back to the film any time in that period, which starts running when you unlock the film and start to watch.  It’s best to unlock from the device you are logged into before watching on a TV app. (In this case unlock means you have click on the film to start viewing.
  •  Films may be watched on multiple Apps for TV watching – before you try to watch, be sure to check the Eventive Website for information on which apps you can use and what version of the app is necessary for viewing.
  • You can also directly connect a laptop or computer using an HDMI cable.
  • You can always get technical help from the Eventive website and their support is available 9 AM to 9 PM 7 days a week to answer your questions through Chat.

Live Streaming Programs

  • Many of the films will have a live streaming program – you’ll find that information in the  film description and in your email confirmation. There is also a tab called Live Streams that has additional info about the program.
  • Your email confirmation will include date and time of the live streaming program.
    • To watch just log into your account on your device, go to the film that has the live stream and click enter livestream  at the designated time. You will receive an email reminder the day of the Livestream
    • Livestreams are not available on the TV apps

Using Eventive Help

  • Eventive Help is Chat only – there is no phone support. To access the chat, just look for the Need Help in the top right of your screen and then scroll to the bottom of the help page to launch the chat.
  • If your question is about technology, for example – how to watch on an Android device or how to watch on Roku – it is very helpful to first look at the Help Page where there is specific guidance. Even if it does not answer your question, it can help you explain your problem in your chat conversation.
  • Eventive Help does use bots – if you feel that is not helping you, proceed by clicking on ‘something else’ and be sure to include your email and Maine Jewish Film Festival so the person providing assistance knows which festival you are asking about.
